The facilities were... read more great in the kitchen but the aga wasn't on so we had to use the gas oven in the utility room which was sufficient for our use. a lovely stay in the centre of Castlewellan.

The Forest Park is just outside the back door so we had some lovely walks in the park and had fun doing the peace maze - followed by a good soak in the outdoor hot tub! Also we did some hiking in the Morne's which are also on your doorstep. There are some nice coffee shops and pubs in the town which we enjoyed. All in all a wonderful break!

The highlight of our holiday was the closeness of... read more Castlewellan Forest Park, 2 minutes away. Safe for young children to ride their bikes. Great for dogs. Castlewellan is 10 minutes from Newcastle and it's amenities and other stunning beaches.
The kitchen /living/dining area was a great space for 3 generations to be together.
We were disappointed the Aga is not working as I was looking forward to using an Aga again. Fully understand why due to fuel costs but we weren't told this until we arrived. A small cooker is for use in the entrance passage meaning sociable cooking was not possible.
We didn't feel the kitchen was sufficiently equipped for 8 people. Only just enough crockery and cutlery, no bread knife or decent sharp knife.
One of the single bedrooms is downstairs and another off a double bedroom with a window between with no curtain therefore no privacy.

We had everything we needed and will definitely return in the future.

Beautiful big spacious living areas and bedrooms and bathrooms. The upstairs living quarters have beautiful views of the Mourne mountains and so comfortable.
The hot tub hit the spot too. We also had a visit from Paul and he gives us a history of the house and also local amenities to visit. The hotel across the road served beautiful food. We had a fantastic time and would recommend this lovely home.
